Core and Flexibility: The Basics

For personal training, core and flexibility training are crucial for optimal fitness. Core training strengthens muscles around your trunk, including abs, hips, and pelvis, while flexibility training improves joint and muscle range of motion. Together, they improve strength, balance, posture, and stability.

Core Training

The core muscles are the foundation of your body and play a crucial role in maintaining proper posture, balance, and stability. Core training involves exercises that target these muscles, such as planks, crunches, and bridges. By strengthening your core muscles, you can improve your overall stability and reduce your risk of injury.

Improved Posture

Core and flexibility training improve posture by strengthening trunk muscles and increasing joint/muscle range of motion. Weak core muscles cause poor posture and discomfort, but core training supports the spine and improves posture. Flexibility training increases range of motion, which improves posture by preventing imbalances caused by tight, inflexible muscles. Improved flexibility leads to better alignment and freer movement, which improves posture.

Stretching

corporate professionals

If you have a desk job and find yourself sitting all day, assisted stretching is a great way to open up hips, lengthening hip flexors, and improve the mobility of the spine. Assisted stretching can also improve blood flow to the hip joints and lumbar spine. Stretching done properly helps to relax tense muscles, which result from stress. The feeling of relaxation brings a sense of wellbeing and relief from tension. Interested having this at work? We work with small businesses ranging from 3 to 25 people. Learn more
