Two Common Myths About Kids And Youth Strength Training


Strength training may stunt the growth of children and that children should not lift weights until they are 12 years old. There is simply no evidence to support either of these statements. In fact, all of the major fitness and medical organizations in the U.S. recommend strength training for youth, assuming that basic guidelines are adhered to and that appropriate leadership is present. And about the question of age, children can begin to train with weights as soon as they are able to accept and follow directions—usually around the age of seven or eight.

Our kids Personal training program is designed for kids between 8 and 19 years old. After a fitness evaluation, we tailor a program based on your goals, specific needs and ability of your child.

For Weight Loss


Each session includes a warm up, strengthening, cardio and stretching. Our sessions are designed for weight loss and the goal is to help motivate and keep your child as active as possible but at the same time having fun for 60 minutes. This approach will keep them wanting to continue with sessions and make it a lifelong decision to stay healthy and fit.

Sports Specific Training


We can make you child the best he can be at any specific sport. Before we start working with your child we take a comprehensive full body assessment using the Functional Movement Screen or FMS. The FMS uses seven movements designed to identify asymmetries and muscular imbalances, weaknesses, and dysfunctional movements that could increase your child’s risk to injury. With this information from our test we will be able to create a personalized and custom workout program for your child to help reduce injury and improve their performance at any sport.

There are benefits of working with a small group of your Childs peers is they will feel very comfortable playing, learning and even teaching new skills amongst one another. It's a great idea for kids to do more bonding and learn how to work as a team. We can even have a large group of kids to help with there sports such as a soccer or football team .


Parents also use the small group training to get there children healthier but also give themselves a little rest while they know their kids are safe with the trainer.

IMPORTANT NOTE

We know the importance of keeping kids in balance and we make sure that at the end of every session whether it's one on one or it's a group class we take 10 minutes to wind down with stretching and breathing exercises to help your child be present. In this world of computers, TV's and cell phones this an important thing to master for kids as well as adults.
